MISS MOTOR SPEEDWAY 2013
Chelsea Bledsoe
My name is Chelsea Bledsoe. The picture above is of me proudly getting ready to represent my great state of Missouri at the national Miss Motor Speedway Pageant. Little did I know that only several hours after this photograph was taken I would win the coveted national title and become Miss Motor Speedway, 2013.
For a shy girl, with self-confidence issues as many teens, it came as a shock to me that I won this title. Notice I didn’t say a TOTAL shock. I have competed in local pageants in Southeastern Missouri and have had some success. Every time I step on a competition stage I feel myself growing as a confident, determined and strong young lady.
Everyone is unique and my message to young people everywhere is to embrace and celebrate who you are NOW and know that even if you feel you are going through an awkward stage the caterpillar YOU see yourself as, is loved by others as the butterfly THEY see you as.
A little more about me: I am the daughter of Peggy and Daniel Vancil, a 22 year old from Campbell, MO. I am a humble, small town girl, with aspirations of opening up my own formal wear boutique and continuing to volunteer for charitable organizations. In the present, I look forward to working with any charitable causes Motor Speedway aligns itself with, and being the best Miss Motor Speedway I can possibly be.
Also, this title sponsors me in the Miss Missouri USA Pageant, which is held the first weekend in November. The confidence I have gained by learning from my past failures has only made me determined to better myself in any endeavor I undertake.
One of my favorite quotes is “All the art of living lies in a fine line of letting go and holding on.” (Henry Ellis). It is with this quote that I encourage you to not let your past determine your future (letting go) and go after every dream you can possibly imagine (holding on).
Please feel free to follow me on my year-long journey as Miss Motor Speedway, the charitable events I will be participating in and the lead-up to my journey at Miss Missouri USA in November. Inspirational quotes that allow us to think, grow and challenge our minds are very often helpful, and I will try to post one inspirational quote per week on this page. I hope some of these quotes encourage you as they have for me.

MISS TEEN MOTOR SPEEDWAY 2013
Lauren Bell

Lauren Bell is a 17 year old senior at South Florence High School in Florence, S.C. She is an honor roll student and an active member of the National BETA Club. Having completed high school in three years, she will graduate in June 2013 with honors. Lauren was a member of the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad her freshman year and a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad her sophomore through senior years and lettered twice in this sport. She has also been a member of the Bruin News Network (BNN) for 3 years where she wrote, filmed, produced, and edited the school news and other journalism projects.
Lauren has been accepted to numerous colleges both in and out of state, but she has chosen to attend the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. beginning the Fall of 2013 where she has been accepted into their pre-nursing program. Lauren plans to earn a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing and continue her studies at USC in order to obtain a Master’s Degree in either acute care (clinical nursing) or primary care (health nursing). Her career goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner in one of these areas.
Lauren has been involved in (and hooked on) pageants since the age of 13 when she was named 1st runner-up in her middle school pageant. She went on to win the title of Miss South Florence High School the following year, becoming the only freshman to ever do so. Other local titles that she has held include Teen Miss Chesterfield, Teen Miss Carolina Stars & Stripes, and Teen Miss Summerfest. Titles she has held on the State level include Teen Miss South Carolina Forestry and Miss Teen South Carolina Motor Speedway. Lauren went on to win the National Teen Miss Forestry Title and the National Miss Teen Motor Speedway Title. Of all the titles and what has been involved with them, Lauren states that the Miss Teen South Carolina Motor Speedway title has been the one that has taught her the most about giving back to her community and reaching out to help others.
Lauren is both honored and awed at having won the title of Miss Teen Motor Speedway 2013. She is eager to begin this chapter in her life and looks forward to representing and promoting the Motor Speedway Pageants and participating in fundraising events to help support children in need. Her motto remains “To do more for the world than the world has done for you – that is success. “ – Henry Ford.
